You used to take pride in showing off that big collection, but now you’re thinking it would be great if you could take it all with you on a portable player and do something else with all that space. It’s not hard to do, but switching the discs in and out, babysitting the program to watch for error messages and repeating the task over and over for a whole afternoon… or weekend… or week’s worth of evening…  it’s just daunting to think about. Convert your DVD collection into portable files* for $2 per disc for the first five and $1 for each subsequent disc. Play them on your iPod, Zune, PSP, Nintendo DS or other portable media player or your laptop whenever you feel like watching a movie away from home.

Turn your CDs into Mp3** files for less than 45 cents a disc

• 1-5 CDs - $1.50/disc
• 6-25 CDs - $6.75 + $1.20/disc over 5
• 26-50 CDs - $28.50 + $0.90/disc over 25
• 51-75 CDs - $45.00 + $0.75/disc over  50
• 76-100 CDs - $60.00 + $0.60/disc over 75
• 100-150 CDs - $70.00 + $0.53/disc over 100
• 150-250 CDs - $90.00 + $0.45/disc over 150 and $0.40 for each disc over 250.

These tracks can be delivered to you by a method of your choosing:

• Burned to CD-ROM:  25 cents per disc. (Estimate one CD-ROM per 100-120 tracks or 7-10 albums.)
• Burned to DVD:  50 cents per disc. (Estimate one DVD per 650-700 tracks or 42-60 albums.)
• Saved on your own USB drive:  No charge
• Saved on a rental USB drive:  $5 per day

When it’s all done, you’ll get your CDs back and can feel free to box them up forever, give them away or sell them at the used music store. You’ll also get dozens, hundreds or even thousands of organized, high-quality audio files ready to be loaded onto your Mp3 player or played on your desktop. (There is a 25 cent charge per disc,  When you realize moving your music collection involves slipping it into your pocket rather than putting it into nine milk crates, you’ll wish you’d done this sooner.
